My report on the slaying of Serj Eason at the Covian Avamass Market
As per the custom of the event, I attended in a Pirate costume with a blunted cutlass. However, I kept my war axe and shield stowed fer defence - against the ogres and trolls that are known to wander the area.
All was proceeding peacefully - I talked to several of the vendors and the other attendees, including another Kaldorian - Jhaniara.
I then talked to Serj Eason about his costume - I did not recognise him at first.
We talked peacefully at first, and then he recognised me - he flew into a rage and was ranting and raving at me about Kaldorians. Several of the Covian officers tried to calm him, and I tried to avoid rising to his shouting.
He then drew his sword, and one of the Covian officers forced him to disarm, and told me to leave. I went to leave and was just about to ask the bystanders to stand aside when he chased after me with his sword drawn.
I barely managed to get my war axe to parry his first blow, and then I defended myself.
After three heavy blows, he fell to the ground knocked out, bleeding heavily. He did not awaken.
Several of the Yewish attending saw the brawl and confirmed that it was self-defence.
